Halloween in Disney World

October was a wild month in real estate: showings, inspections, closings, and to top it all off, a first-time buyer event last week. Needless to say, I’ve got a lot of blogging to catch up on.

Despite all the craziness, this past weekend was blocked off on my calendar. One of my best friends had invited me to Orlando — she works out there during the week. I considered bailing many times before the trip. I was too busy, too tired, too this, too that. Hopping on an airplane was the last thing I wanted to do. But oh, I’m so glad I did.

Sarah and I had a ball, and for 48 hours, I didn’t think about work. I sat on “It’s a Small World” and reminisced about family trips to Disney World. I ate Dole Whip and chicken nuggets and fries. I drank wine before noon at the pool.

We spent Halloween day at the Magic Kingdom, both dressed as Minnie Mouse — Sarah in red, me in pink. It was so easy to be with her — Sarah is someone who will laugh with and at me, but also someone who will encourage me when I tell her my fears and worries. A vacation with a treasured sister-in-Christ was exactly what I needed.

I’m back in Chicago today, headed out the door for another closing. Now, who wants to take me on my next trip?
